Classic Leggings Pattern for Women: STYLE 251_Regular

Classic Leggings Pattern for Women: STYLE 251

Description:

Introducing our Classic Leggings Pattern for Women: Designed with a nod to the iconic fit of a local Vancouver company leggings, this pattern offers a sleek, pull-on style with extra back coverage for a secure, comfortable fit. The high waistband can be worn up for a control top effect or folded down for a stylish look. Plus, the cuffs at the bottom ensure that the leggings stay in place and don't ride up throughout the day. This cut-and-sew pattern is a must-have for your collection, combining functionality with timeless style!

This is our go-to legging style of choice for years at the Dampkring studio, and we have tested and perfected this fit over time.  We wear this style every day, to exercise, at home & in life.  I made this pattern based on the first (& only) $100+ pair of leggings I got from a local company here in Vancouver that got famous for their leggings.  I have made over 30 pairs since for myself, friends and family.  I estimate this alone has saved me over $2,000 if I had purchased these leggings instead of cut and sewing them myself!  Can't argue with those savings...

SUGGESTED FABRICS:

This pattern needs a stretchy fabric, it works best with a 4 way stretch fabric like cotton, polyester & nylon spandex.  Jersey & interlock knits work well, but make sure they have a good stretch.

  • 4-way stretch fabric: Stretches a lot both across the width and down the length. It can also stretch diagonally.  This extra stretch is usually thanks to stretchy fibers like spandex (also called elastane or Lycra) woven or knitted into the fabric.

If you have a light stretchy fabric you want to use, but it does not have a lot of strength (like jersey & interlock), you can still use this pattern - just use a pattern bigger than our suggested size.  And if you are like me and want to wear leggings that 'hold' me in like a pair of spanx, then use a pattern size smaller than our suggested size with a very stretchy and dense knit fabric.

YARDAGE REQUIREMENTS:

You need one fabric, which we refer to as the SELF (main) fabric
