Grading
What is grading?
Pattern grading creates a range of sizes from your base pattern while maintaining the original design's proportions and fit.
Sizing inconsistencies can damage your brand and frustrate customers. Our professional pattern grading service solves this problem by accurately scaling your base pattern to create a consistent size range. We partner with you to develop a long-term grading strategy, ensuring consistent fit and building customer trust. Focus on selling, not sizing worries.
Here's a breakdown of what we will discuss about your pattern:
- Base size: This is the original pattern size that is drafted or designed. It's often a medium or a size that is considered a good starting point for grading.
- Grading: This is the process of increasing or decreasing the dimensions of the pattern pieces to create different sizes (e.g., small, large, extra-large).
- Grade Rules: Grading is based on a set of measurements that define the differences between sizes. These measurements are usually provided in a size chart or specifications sheet.
- Maintaining proportions: The goal of grading is to ensure that the garment looks and fits well in all sizes. This means that the proportions of the garment (e.g., the ratio of the bust to the waist) should remain consistent across all sizes.
Prices are charged per piece and do not include the cost of plotting. Each piece graded includes up to 10 sizes.
For example, if you have a simple T-shirt pattern with 4 pieces (front, back, sleeve, & neckband) and you need size XS, S, M, L & XL then you would be charged *4 pcs x $11.50 per pc.
If you wanted sizes XXS, XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, 3XL & 4XL you'd be charged the same - *4 pcs x $11.50 per pc. Because when we grade we can include up to 10 sizes per piece!
